ABOUT US
Annie Arnett is a passionate advocate for the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) communities, with a career dedicated to promoting inclusion, equity, and social justice – particularly within the education system. With a background in education and over a decade of hands-on experience, Annie has worked across schools, charities, and local authorities to address systemic barriers and ensure that GRT voices are heard and respected.
Annie began her journey with academic research focused on the challenges faced by GRT pupils in mainstream schools. This foundation informed her role as a Traveller Coordinator in secondary education, where she developed tailored support systems, trained staff on GRT culture, and built strong relationships with families to improve outcomes for GRT students.
Her work expanded nationally through a leading charity, where she trained frontline professionals, advocated for Special Educational Needs (SEN) support, and helped families navigate educational and legal systems to secure vital services.
Annie has also played a key role in GRT History Month, delivering school workshops and creating inclusive learning materials that celebrate GRT culture and heritage.
A tireless champion for change, Annie continues to challenge school exclusions, fight discrimination and ensure that every GRT child receives the support and respect they deserve.
Eric Arnett is a qualified English teacher with extensive experience at the secondary level and a strong commitment to educational equity for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) students.
Having witnessed the discrimination faced by GRT pupils within classrooms, staff rooms and across school systems, Eric has dedicated his career to addressing these injustices and supporting learners who are too often overlooked.
With additional training and professional development in Special Educational Needs (SEN), Eric brings a deep understanding of the challenges many GRT pupils face – particularly those with undiagnosed or unsupported learning needs. He is especially passionate about providing tailored literacy and numeracy education in home-education settings, where a significant number of GRT students are taught due to systemic exclusion or cultural preference.
Eric teaches English up to GCSE level and is committed to ensuring every student – regardless of background – has the opportunity to realise their full potential. He believes no child should be sidelined by bias or inequality and strives to create an inclusive learning environment where all learners feel valued and empowered.
Eric’s strength lies in home tutoring in literacy and numeracy, with a focus on Traveller-related books in English.
